Magnification Forty by Tsveta, translated by Jonathan Dunne won the English PEN
Tsveta is included among the voices from 19 countries (from Thailand to North Macedonia) in 18 languages that have received PEN Translates Awards from English PEN, thus ensuring that these voices can be heard outside their linguistic confines. Translation is what enables us to hear each other. All too often, we don’t and go to war. It also provides enjoyment, and insight, broadening our horizons and enriching our perspective. The poetry book “Magnification Forty”, in which the poet places objects under the microscope, takes the time to see them, visits waterfalls and observes places from Rome to Berlin, Lodève to Skopelos, is a fine example. Books are selected for PEN Translates awards on the basis of outstanding literary quality, the strength of the publishing project, and their contribution to UK bibliodiversity. The publisher will be Shearsman Books.
